Fourth Annual BIG WEENIE Tag Singing Contest

Benefiting YWIH & YMIH

Byline: Elburn, IL
Doug Wehrwein

The Fourth Annual Big Weenie Tag Singing Contest will be held on August 9, 2008. The Big Weenie Tag Singing Contest is the invention of Cathy and Doug Wehrwein to promote more quartet singing and to raise money to support the efforts of Youth in Harmony by both SPEBSQSA and SAI. It is hosted by Cathy and Doug Wehrwein at their home in Elburn, IL.

The festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. with sign in and registration of all attendees and competing quartets. For those who do not already have a quartet lined up to compete in the Tag Singing Contest there is plenty of time for pick-up quartets to form and choose two tags to sing from either their memories or from the tag books provided. Some people just came to listen, and that's okay, too.

Included this year, as in the past, will be an expertly prepared barbequed dinner of pork chops and chicken, along with all the fixins. The cost of the dinner is $12.50. (Reservations are required for the dinner) Soda and water are included. If you plan to enjoy other beverages please bring them with you.

There will be a panel of judges scoring the contestants on Harmony Accuracy, Creativity, and Stage Presence. Contestants can receive bonus points by performing with singers under 18 years of age, adding some costuming and just simply getting imaginative with your tags – Think Fun! Of course, bribing the Judging Panel won't hurt. All Competing Quartets are requested to pay an entry donation of $5.
