Karen Jerde is a baritone through and through: she is precise, prepared and utterly delighted by making music. She has been a member of Great Lake Sound since August 2014 and served our chorus in numerous, essential capacities. Karen is a section leader for the baritones and rings the pitch pipe without fail. Both roles require her to be dedicated in knowing the music inside and out and being present both for her section and the chorus as a whole. In addition to her musical talents, Karen and her family have extensive knowledge of technology. She has been able to provide and set up equipment for performances, rehearsals and retreats. She has allowed us to record our own performances for review and fine tuning as well as giving us the ability to watch and learn from other recorded performances. Karen’s talent for organizing our group for Regional Contest including paperwork and details is invaluable.
Perhaps the most wonderful thing about Karen is that she does all of this work, across so many facets, with excitement and passion for our chorus. She genuinely wants to provide whatever she can to help us learn, grow and succeed. Karen is friendly and welcoming to all new and potential members. She is the first to volunteer ideas and offer to help. She is a top notch musician through and through.
