I joined Sweet Adelines 20 plus years ago when a colleague at work invited me to a
guest night at Spring Valley Chorus in Schaumburg. I was in love from the first visit and
enamored with the awesome bass section. I absolutely love any chance to perform, so
It was like a match made in heaven.
I’d been singing since I was 10 years old in church and in school. Though I taught
language arts and math in both grade school and high school, and then worked as an
executive assistant for 26 years, music continued to be part of my life. I always
belonged to church choir, was a cantor, and sang with and played guitar for several
church youth choirs over the years.
I served on the Spring Valley management team in several capacities including
secretary, communication, and performance coordinator.
In 2010 I joined Riverport Chorus when Spring Valley was struggling and I was a dual member for
several years. The fit was ideal since community presence and performance
opportunities are important parts of the Riverport culture. I have been on the music
team since 2011 and have been on the management team for several years, serving as
treasurer and secretary.
I sang with a small group, Smooth Scalin’, for several years and currently have the
privilege of singing with an amazing quartet, Meant 2B.
This “hobby” is an amazing gift and makes my life so much richer. Thank you, Riverport.
