Quartet Bio: 

Daybreak Quartet has been together for about 3 and 1/2 years, taking 1st place at Region 17’s Regional Quartet Contest in 2023 and 2024.  Lead, Sara Celevenger, Bari, Mim Manual, and Bass, Allison Hengelsberg have each belonged to several choruses and quartets through the years, and are currently all members of Greater Harmony Chorus (Region 17), serving as musical, visual and administrative leaders there.  In June 2025, Daybreak welcomed their new tenor, Joan Boutilier, Master Director of River City Sound Chorus.   We are thrilled to continue this journey together as a new foursome, and honored to be a part of Regions 17 and 3!

Individual Bios:

 

Lead Sara Clevenger joined Sweet Adelines at the age of 14, as a part of Border Lakes Region 2 of Michigan/southern Ontario. Sara has had the pleasure of singing in several choruses and quartets through the years, with no prouder moment than to share the stage with her mom as their quartet, Surefire became Regional Champions in 2015. Sara is a member of the GreaterHarmony Chorus’s Music Team, serves as Team Coordinator and Associate Director.

Tenor Joan Boutilier has been very active in Sweet Adelines International since 1989. Her accomplishments include Certified Sound and Expression Judge, chorus and quartet coach, and a member of the International Faculty. Joan has served on many committees at the international level, as well as the International Board of Directors, serving as President of SAI from 2020-2022. She was presented the President's Lifetime Acheivement Award in 2022. Joan is an accomplished quartet singer, sinning the Inernational Championship as Tenor with the 2008 Quartet Champions, Four Bettys. Along with singing, her directing carerr spans more than 30 years, and she is the current Master Director of River city Sound Chorus. 

Baritone Mim (Margie) Manuel has been an active member of Sweet Adelines since 2004, and.has been a member of several choruses and quartets through the years. She has held different music and visual teamroles, including costume chair, and is the assistant baritone section leader in the Greater Harmony Chorus. Other interests include baking and being a new Nana to her 1st granddaughter.

Bass Allison Hengelsberg has been singing barbershop harmony since 1995. Allison has sung in several quartets and choruses through the years, including the Region 6 champion chorus City of Lakes and Wicked, the 2018 Sweet Adelines Region 17 championship quartet. She holds several leadership positions at Greater Harmony Chorus and is also the Membership Coordinator for Sweet Adelines Region 17.

Midwest Harmony Region 3 of Sweet Adelines International is dedicated to the advancement of four-part harmony, barbershop-style, for women of all ages, through education and performance.
