Congratulations to Joan Boutilier, recipient of the 2022 Sweet Adelines International President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. As International President from 2020-2022, Joan led the organization through the unimaginable challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Current International President Thérèse Antonini writes of Joan’s presidency, “You stayed true through every challenge you faced, providing inspiration and encouragement to an entire organization trying to find its new way. It is an achievement and a legacy that will never be forgotten.” In addition, Joan is an International Quartet Champion, singing tenor with The Four Bettys (2008). She was a gold medal chorus singer with the Melodeers and has directed both Choral-Aires and River City Sound choruses to the International stage. She is the Master Director of River City Sound Chorus, a Certified Judge in the Sound Category, and has served on the International Board of Directors, among many other roles at the international, regional, and chorus levels.
